COTAAN/WIT Re-Entry Fair...

On Friday, June 20, 2014, COTAAN and W.I.T., (Women in Transition, a program of Cuyahoga Community College) partnered  to present the first of its kind, "Re-Entry Fair for Women."

Over 26 businesses and community support programs from across the Greater Cleveland area came together to support the event.  Approximately 60 women returning home from incarceration were in attendance.

Representatives from Towards Employment, Tri-C educational programs, Cleveland Food Bank, Fifth/Third Bank, Transitional Housing, Legal Aide, Emotional Care LLC,  and many others were there to provide critical information to women, seeking to re-enter society.  The keynote speaker was the Honorable Judge Nancy M. Russo.  Lunch was provided by the gracious donation of Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge.

Participants heard testimonials from a recent graduate of the W.I.T. program as well as COTAAN volunteer, Miriam Grady.  Participants were also given the opportunity to attend two out of four workshops:

"Resumes That Get Results," "Educational and Career Opportunities for the Returning Citizen," Financial Literacy for Returning Citizens," and "Mental Health and the Returning Citizen."  A special presentation was also given on record expungement.

Additionally, Ms. Grady was interviewed by local T.V. Station, 19 Action News about the importance of programs like COTAAN and W.I.T.  You can read about and hear her testimonial by clicking on the link below.
